PM Lee on being open to online consultation portals
A COMMITTEE set up in 2010 to enrich the cultural landscape in Singapore will seek opinions from members of the arts community through conducting focus group sessions and launching an online consultation portal.
This, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, is in line with the Government’s efforts to ‘involve Singaporeans in developing ideas and policies that affect them’.
A sticking thorny issue is the claim from the LGBT community that the PAP seems trigger happy to censor LGBT themes, because “we are a still conservative society”. The LGBT group is right in saying that many countries have opened up to LGBT themes and ideals and Singapore is lagging. Perhaps the govt and the LGBT group can come to a compromise. The govt could relax some rules to allow LGBT themes, and at the same time the LGBT group should be more open to discussion about those who do not support LGBT ideas.
Heng Swee Kiat responds to Janelle’s open letter
Dear Janelle, Many thanks for taking your time to share this. I am deeply impressed and encouraged by your thoughtful remarks about what education should be – esp. your points on curiosity, creativity and character development! It cheers me, esp. coming from someone so young. Several students have also emailed me interesting ideas. I am gathering a group to discuss these ideas – I’d very much like to invite you to join us…hope you agree. Cheers!
Can parents join in? I wanna give my feedback too!

Our relations with our neighbours
Out of 45 corruptors who ran away overseas, 20 chose Singapore as the hideout.
Indonesia’s grievance against Singapore is that we are habouring crooks who stole money from Indonesia. Billions are kept in our banks as safe haven. Singapore also has no intention to extradite these crooks back to Indonesia. The friction between Indonesia and us has nothing to do with their population of 200+ million trying to usurp Singapore – something Chan Chun Seng “sexily” claimed as in the video below, at the 4:00 min mark.

Singapore not serious about an extradition treaty: Marzuki
Indonesian House of Representatives speaker Marzuki Alie accused Singapore of downplaying the need for “pure” talks on an extradition treaty between the two neighbors.
“Singapore has, at all times, never seriously responded to our need to make a pure extradition treaty. Our two countries are supposed to agree on an extradition treaty without relating it to other matters,” Marzuki said Friday in Jakarta, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Marzuki was apparently complaining about Singapore’s reported request to be allowed to conduct military training within Indonesian territory in exchange for the extradition treaty.
Marzuki said the two issues were “not correlated”.
The non-existence of an extradition treaty between Indonesia and Singapore has allowed the escape of many Indonesian fugitives who have fled to Singapore – an issue that has recently drawn the attention of the Indonesian in the aftermath of the escape of two prominent graft fugitives.
Very closely related to the immediate previous link, is the Extradition Treaty between Singapore and Indonesia which is yet to be ratified. Indonesia is accusing Singapore of delaying the ratification and that means the corrupted crooks and the billions they stole are still in Singapore. Singapore wants to link the extradition treaty with a request to allow our troops to train in Indonesia. Frankly, I think that is a lousy excuse from Singapore. The ill-gotten money is not ours, and we shouldn’t be complicit in hiding criminals in our land. It has nothing to do with our troops training in Indonesia. It only looks like our govt is giving an excuse to keep the ill gotten funds. Yes, there’s nothing “sexy” in keeping someone else’s stolen money.
KL insists airspace intrusions took place
KL says there’s intrusion but Singapore says no. Who’s to be believed?

US sour on Arab UN bid for Palestinian statehood
The US is a party to the UN Resolution 1947, which recognises that Palestinians have a right to their land. Why is US not complying to its own sanctioned UN Resolution?
Blast kills Gaza teacher in front of her children
If the victim had been an Israeli and the perpetrator a Palestinian, this would be considered terrorism.

Two Navy Ships That Cost $300 Million Are Headed To The Scrapyard Without Having Seen A Day Of Service
The Americans are so rich, they can afford such bloopers. Here’s another one – US military hardware problems
TSA pat down then about to do a drug test on 6 year old
This is getting to be overboard. Have your pick. Either allow your young daughter to be ogled nekkid by pedhophiles operating those nekkid scanners, or allow them to feel her up her crotch. When terrorists hit targets, the idea is to disrupt everyday life. Looks like the terrorists have won without even firing a single shot.
“If You’re A Muslim American In The Military You Are Considered Someone who Is Suspect!”
Islamophobia in the US Military. Just like in the SAF too.
