It is not about politics at Boon Lay Youth Club at all
I REFER to the article “When school and grassroots work do not mix” by Mr Siew Kum Hong (Jan 4).
My daughter was actively involved in the Boon Lay Youth Club (BLYC) when she was a student in the then Raffles Junior College three years ago.
She is now a second-year medical student at Monash University in Australia.
As I watched how my “little” girl grew up into a more mature and tolerant young lady during her time in BLYC, I cannot help but beg to differ with Mr Siew.
She was never involved in any political parties, neither was she invited to join one.
But that is how the system works! These youngsters are enticed by the “call to do social work”, and in the process are “scouted” by PAPpies. In the end, you end up serving the PAPpy agenda and not what is beneficial for the community.
In Singapore, outpatient cases seen at IMH’s child guidance clinic have increased by 16 per cent from 2006 to 2009. Last year, the clinic saw 3,000 new outpatient cases for those under 18 years old.
That’s nearly 10 new cases a day. Something’s not right with our living environment.

Hence, it is the IDF who is intruding. Imagine a foreign force invading YOUR LAND and when you protest against them in YOUR LAND, they fire tear gas to break your peaceful demonstration. Not to mention the tear gas contains toxic gas. Who is wiping who off the map?

Netanyahu makes official request to Obama: Free Pollard
The Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday sent a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama requesting the release of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard for humanitarian reasons.
Pollard is serving life sentence in America for treason and espionage. He is an American Jew who stole military secrets from US and passed it on to Israel. Israel then sold it to Russia, America’s arch-enemy then during the Cold War.
