>Latest Pay and Pay Tax – Carbon Tax Scam

Posted by Barrie on July 11, 2009

>I have been keeping in touch with this Global Warming stuff that almost every developed nation has been talking about. The proponents of Carbon Tax Scheme claim that global warming is caused mainly by carbon emission, and if we do not control it, the climate change would be disastrous.

Critics of the global warming theory have been skeptical and have said that there is no scientific proof (yes, you got it right – no proof, only theories) that carbon emission is the cause of global temperature change. After all, Earth has had experienced cyclical global temperature change for a gazillion years.

These same critics claim that the real reason for this global warming scare-mongering is for the governments to levy a carbon tax on companies – and perhaps even on domestic consumers. In other words, the global warming theory is just another ripoff from the governments to tax your hard earned dollars – and that tax ripoff is coming to Singapore.

Here is a report from the Straits Times

…But this looks set to change when world leaders meet in Copenhagen in December to negotiate a global deal that will likely put a cap on pollution and a price on carbon.

The ESI report will study issues surrounding this scenario and what the cost will be to businesses and households in Singapore, ESI senior fellow Elspeth Thomson told The Straits Times on Friday….

It would be a safe guess that we can expect, in the near future to be carbon taxed by our government. Here is another article by the Straits Times indicating the direction we are moving towards tax on carbon emission.

1st carbon calculator launched

THE average carbon footprint of households worldwide is about 1,300kg of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

The average carbon footprint of a Singaporean household stands at more than seven times that amount, at about 9,200kg, according to calculations by the Earth Policy Institute.

To help residents get a better gauge of their carbon emissions, the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) has come up with the first Singapore-specific, lifestyle-based carbon calculator.

So we are told that Singaporeans emit carbon about seven times the amount average households worldwide emit. No mention what this average includes. Does it include third world countries where electricity is less consumed?

Whatever the case, it appears that the soft-sell of carbon tax has already begun.

Brace yourselves for yet another tax scheme to draw blood from Singaporeans. The PAP has always said that Singapore’s tax is low. That is rubbish. It is income tax that is low. Taxes are still high. ERP is tax. Petrol and diesel tax is tax. Road tax is tax. Property tax is tax. GST is tax, etc, etc, etc….

And of course, Carbon Tax IS tax.

Now hold on, my fellow Singaporeans. If you want to curse the government for this coming Carbon Tax Scheme because you think it is ridiculous, read what’s going on in New Zealand.

New Zealand ‘Fart Tax’ Causes a Stink

WELLINGTON – New Zealand farmers are being asked to cough up NZ$8.4 million (2.9 million pounds) a year to help reduce greenhouse effects caused by flatulence of their millions of sheep and cattle — and they say the plan stinks.

Last year New Zealand signed up to the Kyoto Protocol (news – web sites) on global warming (news – web sites) and agreed to reduce production of greenhouse gases which are suspected of being a major cause of climate change.

Now the government plans to introduce a tax to help pay for research into livestock emissions of methane and nitrous oxide, which account for more than half of the country’s greenhouse gases.

But farmers argue that reducing greenhouse gas emissions benefits everyone so the costs should be spread across all taxpayers.

“This decision is yet another example of the government’s desire to act in the wider public interest but expecting rural New Zealand to pay for its largesse,” Federated Farmers President Tom Lambie said.

Most of the livestock emissions come from the methane-rich burps of cows and sheep.

On current livestock numbers of around 46 million sheep and nine million cows, the levy will cost farmers around nine cents a sheep a year, and around 72 cents per cow.

Deer and goats will also be taxed, but pigs and poultry — paltry contributors to greenhouse emissions by comparison — are exempted.

Cows, sheep and goats have been around on Earth for zillions of years even before Humans existed. They didn’t cause a global warming then, did they? So why out of a sudden, these animals produce methane enough to cause a global warming concern?

It’s all about the tax dollars, isn’t it? What the fart!
