Unnecessary health treatment (Part 1) – cervical jabs

Posted by Barrie on October 29, 2011

What happened to the days when America was noted for its fine medical and pharmaceutical practices, academic institutions, quality production of microchips etc?

Heck, what happened to the days of anything good in America?

Today, all news about America is about wars, oppression and pillaging of resources in lands of others, or frauds and malpractices at their domestic home ground, like its finance and mortgage industry.

Peddling pharma and unnecessary med tests -

Looks the good old days of America are over. The greed for $$$ has now infiltrated the health and pharma industry.

In the past, I have written about how psychiatric drugs are being oversubscribed unnecessarily to patients, including children. This over-pushing of drugs used as the “first measure” is driven by $$$. In this post, I will discuss how the healthcare industry in America pushes cancer prevention treatment because of $$$. I will discuss the cervical jab.

Qualifying Statement -

Again, I have to make a qualifying statement because there’s a wisecrack who always thinks the opposite of whatever I write. Like in the case of the psychiatric drug industry where my point is the unnecessary and unethical practice of “drug administration first” instead of non-drug therapy first, my point in this blog is about the unnecessary prescription of the cervical jab. This does not mean that there are no cases where these med practices have yielded results.

Cervical Jabs -

According to most medical practitioners, this jab is to prevent cancer of the cervix in girls and women caused by the virus HPV (Human papillomavirus). The jab is also known to be effective if she is NOT YET infected by this virus, which is spread through sexual contact. Because of this, govts and the healthcare industry recommend that this jab be administered BEFORE the girl even has her first sexual experience – which means that these American girls will be jabbed when they are pretty young.

What the healthcare industry doesn’t tell, and the govt doesn’t bother (are they getting kickbacks?), is the fact that:

1. There are horrendous side effects.

2. There is contest among med and healthcare practitioners that HPV is not that serious in the first place, making the cervical jab totally unnecessary and obsolete.

Before we look into the side effects, here is a campaign to have young women and girls vaccinated. Note the heavy marketing tone instead of the medical info dispensing approach. Cervical Cancer Facts (Also note that this jab is also recommended to boys!)

Now let’s look at the side effects. This report (below) is from UK, not US. But the message is still the same. Those jabs have adverse side effects.

Side effects of cervical jabs -

Concerns over safety of cervical cancer vaccine after 1,300 girls experience adverse side-effects

More than 1,300 schoolgirls have experienced adverse reactions to the controversial cervical cancer jab.

Doctors have reported that girls aged just 12 and 13 have suffered paralysis, convulsions and sight problems after being given the vaccine.

Image below is taken from website above. Click here for larger image.

1300 young girls out of 700,000 suffered adverse effects including paralysis? Again, some wisecrack may say that is about 0.18%, which is statistically small. Well, try telling that to the parents of those 1300 girls and see what you’d get!

Listen to this video. Hear it from a victim herself. HEALTH ALERT: Gardasil Victim Speaks Out After 2 Years

Note that in spite of the fact that there are horrendous side effects, the govts in these so called first world nations are pushing for the jabs on a national scale. What’s wrong with withholding these jabs until everything is sorted out? That’s because of every day, every week, every month that jab is delayed, the pharma industry is losing $$$.

Contest from some experts that HPV has been over-hyped as a cancer threat -

Here is the opinion of the American Cancer Society on the topic of the cervical jab. Note that it recommends regular pap smear test and in fact downplays the need to have the cervix jab. What Women Should Know About Cervical Cancer and the Human Papilloma Virus

How does HPV lead to cervix cancer?

HPV is spread through sex, and it can cause an infection in the cervix. The infection usually doesn’t last very long because your body is able to fight the infection. If the HPV doesn’t go away, the virus may cause cervix cells to change and become pre-cancer cells. Pre-cancer cells are not cancer. Most cells with early pre-cancer changes return to normal on their own. Sometimes, the pre-cancer cells may turn into cancer if they are not found and treated.

Very few HPV infections lead to cervix cancer.

Who can get cervix cancer?

Because HPV is so common, any woman who has ever had sex can get cervix cancer. But, most women who get HPV do not get cervix cancer. Women who have their Pap tests as often as they should are least likely to get cervix cancer.

Some women have a greater chance of getting cervix cancer if they:

- Have HPV and it doesn’t go away
- Have HIV or AIDS
- Smoke

….cut….

How is HPV treated?

There is no treatment for the type of HPV that causes cervix cell changes, but most HPV infections go away without treatment. Antibiotics or other medicines do not treat HPV.

There are treatments for the cell changes in the cervix that HPV can cause. If your Pap test shows cervix changes, your doctor or nurse will discuss these treatments with you, if you need them.

Note that the most trusted and effective way, which is agreed among all medical professionals, is the pap smear test. The cervical jab is hence unnecessary because firstly, the pap smear would have done the job to prevent cancer anyway. Secondly, those jabs have adverse side effects that can cause paralysis.

So why are the pharma companies marketing this product, and even lobbies for govts to push this product for them? The answer is….$$$$.

>Cervical Cancer Jab – The Downside

Posted by Barrie on September 12, 2010

>Some months back, Mdm Halimah Yacob, Trade Unionist and MP, suggested that the Medisave be used to pay for the cancer cervical jab.

Halimah Yacob urges Medisave use for cervical cancer vaccination

SINGAPORE : Trade unionist Halimah Yacob is urging the authorities to allow the use of Medisave to pay for cervical cancer vaccination.

She highlighted this at the launch of a cervical cancer bloggers’ public education campaign on Thursday.

Young girls and women are encouraged to go for pap smear screening and vaccination to prevent cervical cancer. It seems early sexual activity and smoking puts them at a higher risk.

In fact, about 200 women are detected with cervical cancer each year, and half of them die from it.

Chinese women are more likely to get cervical cancer, with an incidence rate of 11.5 per 100,000 women each year, followed by the Malays at 7.4 and Indians at 6.1 per 100,000 women.

Halimah Yacob, deputy secretary general of NTUC and director of NTUC Women’s Development Secretariat, said: “Vaccination is meant for prevention.

Mdm Halimah is a trained lawyer. She is not a medically trained person. I give her the benefit of the doubt that she is unaware of the medical health perils that is tied to it.

Here is an article that highlights the downside.

Two thousand schoolgirls suffer suspected ill-effects from cervical cancer vaccine

Thousands of schoolgirls have suffered suspected adverse reactions to a controversial cervical cancer vaccine introduced by the Government.

Doctors’ reports show that girls of 12 and 13 have experienced convulsions, fever and paralysis after being given the vaccine, which is now administered in schools as part of efforts to prevent women developing cancer.

Others suffered nausea, muscle weakness, dizziness and blurred vision, according to a special report drawn up by drug safety watchdogs.

A support group says it has received dozens of calls from parents who believe their daughters have been damaged by the vaccine.

The parents of one teenage girl given the jab last autumn believe it was to blame for repeated seizures which have left her with brain damage and psychosis.

The immunisation programme for teenage girls is controversial because it protects them from the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus which causes 70 per cent of cervical tumours.

When the Government introduced the Cervarix vaccination programme last year, some campaigners dubbed it a “promiscuity jab”.

Campaigners and families said the new figures showed the vaccination should not have been introduced via a mass programme.

More than one million girls have already been given the jab, which is offered to all as they enter their teens.

Until 2011 it will also be administered to older girls, so that all female teens below the age of 18 will be covered by the programme.

Ministers say that ultimately the scheme will save 700 lives a year, while drug safety experts insist the number of suspected reactions are outweighed by the benefits from the jab.

Most of the more than 2,000 suspected reactions recorded by drug safety watchdog Medicines and Health care products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) were mild, with dozens of girls recording rashes, pain in the arm, and allergies.

But the report prepared by the MHRA earlier this month also discloses cases in which teens have suffered convulsions, eye rolling, muscle spasms, seizures and hyperventilation soon after being given the jab.

It has to be noted that this vaccine is only effective against human papillomavirus, a sexually transmitted disease. It is not effective against cancer of the cervix caused by other means.

Hence, this vaccine is also otherwise known as the “promiscuity jab”. A jab that hopefully prevents sexually transmitted cervical cancers. That being the case, isn’t the good old abstinence only method still the safest way?

Sure, go ahead and teach about the condoms. Go ahead and promote the cervix jab.

But for the good of everyone, please, pleeeeaaaaase, tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the (whole) truth.

Condoms do fail. And the cervix vaccine jab has medical ill side effects.

What is wrong about telling these teens and their parents those truths?

Drug experts are only willing to push their sales and profit up. That’s what’s wrong with telling teens and their parents the whole truth!
