American Psychiatric Association is coming to getcha!

Posted by Barrie on February 14, 2012

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is coming to get you. It wants your life. It wants your soul. It wants you to feed and fuel its $80 billion psychiatric drug industry.

Here’s the latest push by APA, telling you why you are so sick in the head, you’d better seek psychiatric help fast, so that you can be put on psychiatric drugs. Drugs that you never need to have in the first place.

New mental health manual is ‘dangerous’: Experts

LONDON (REUTERS) – Millions of healthy people – including shy or defiant children, grieving relatives and people with fetishes – may be wrongly labelled mentally ill by a new international diagnostic manual, specialists said on Thursday.

In a damning analysis of an upcoming revision of the influential Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), psychologists, psychiatrists and other experts said new categories of mental illness identified in the book were at best ‘silly’ and at worst ‘worrying and dangerous’.

‘Many people who are shy, bereaved, eccentric, or have unconventional romantic lives will suddenly find themselves labelled as mentally ill,’ said Peter Kinderman, head of Liverpool University’s Institute of Psychology at a briefing in London about widespread concerns over the manual.

‘It’s not humane, it’s not scientific, and it won’t help decide what help a person needs.’ The DSM is published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and has symptoms and other criteria for diagnosing mental disorders. It is used internationally and seen as the diagnostic ‘bible’ for mental health medicine.

I am not saying that we should ban dispensing psychiatric drugs. In some cases, such drugs are indeed needed. However, what APA seems to be doing is to classify everyday emotions as “mentally ill”.

Shy? Reserved? Quiet? Acting differently from the “norm”? You are mentally sick, says APA!

Isn’t this just an excuse to put you on psychiatric drug therapy to feed the $80 billion P$ychiatric Drug Indu$try?

Incidentally, APA is the very organisation that voted homosexuality to be declassified as a mental disease. Putting aside whether homosexuality is an abnormality or not, isn’t the fact that these doctors voted for something to be classified or declassified a disease, unprofessional?

Imagine a group of oncologists taking a vote to decide if a certain type of growth in certain organs be classified as a non-disease! Won’t your confidence in the medical industry (especially oncology) be shaken! But these psychiatrists from APA, who appear crazier than the very patients they are treating, are doing exactly that!

Below is another video from an ex-industry player, telling you as it is – ie the Psychiatric Drug Industry is dictated by $$$. The more people classified as mentally ill, the more business they have. Their economy depends on how much you believe you are sick, so that you can be put on their drug therapy.

Pharma Not in Business of Health, Healing, Cures, Wellness

If you love your elderly parents, grandparents or your young children, think twice. Think thrice. Think many times before you allow them to be put on psychiatric drugs.

Shouldn’t the first treatment for mentally depressed patients always be non-drug therapy? Shouldn’t it be that drug therapy be the last resort?

Why then is APA pushing for you to be classified mentally sick, and why is the Psychiatric Health Industry so eager to put you on drug therapy as first resort?

The answer is simple. It is an industry fueled by an $80 billion demand.

Psychiatric Drug Industry wants your life and soul

Posted by Barrie on July 10, 2011

Last year, in November, I wrote an article about how the Drug Industry works in collaboration with the American Psychiatric Association to profiteer from the public.

Multi-Billion Dollar Psychiatric Drug Industry is coming to getcha!

It has been pointed out that drugs have been used liberally to treat psychiatric patients. It appears that psychiatric drugs are being dispensed like candies to children. In a nutshell, my objections in the above article are:

1. There is a liberal use of drugs to treat depression. Drug therapy is also being used as first choice to treat depression. Shouldn’t it be the last resort instead?

2. The (Psychiatric) Drug Industry has “expanded its terrain” from dishing out drugs on psychiatric patients to anyone who appears to have “psychological and/or emotional anomaly”, including school children who can’t sit still for five minutes. It looks like school children in Singapore are about to be treated the same way as school children in America.

3. These drugs may have side effects that may be worse than the depression the patient has in the first place.

4. These drugs are addictive. If you stop them, you experience withdrawal symptoms.

This is serious stuff. We are allowing healthy people, our children included, to be drugged into madness. These druggers are making people (our children included) either sick when they are healthy to start off with, or sicker than they already are.

But I am not a doctor, let alone a psychiatrist. My words can easily be pooh-poohed by critics. Fortunately, I found a video recording by a professional practitioner, who appears to be confirming what I have been saying about the (Psychiatric) Drug Industry.

Please listen to the 7 min recording below. It may help you save your child, or your elderly parent, who may be subjected to the (drug) treatment they never need to have in the first place.

Pharma Not in Business of Health, Healing, Cures, Wellness

Doesn’t it feel like these people are sicker than the patients they are treating?

They want you to be sick, or if you already are, sicker – so that they can sell you the drugs you don’t need in the first place.

They want your life. They want your soul.

>Multi-Billion Dollar Psychiatric Drug Industry is coming to getcha!

Posted by Barrie on November 18, 2010

>Psychiatry. Ah, the only field in medicine where you are diagnosed for diseases without going through scientifically proven clinical tests. You are diagnosed for mental disorder not because they have taken your blood sample, urine sample or some bodily x-rays and those tests confirm your condition. You are diagnosed to have mental disorder because you are told you are sick – in the head.

So exactly what are these mental sicknesses that you are suffering? Anything from anger to hyper activity. But aren’t these just symptoms, rather than diseases themselves? Oh, that is taken care of. Psychiatrists have given names to these symtoms, so that they can now call them diseases. Yes, disease that you thought you never had.

30 Second Video: THE STAMP: Psychiatric Disorders Fuel $80 Billion Drug Industry

Psychiatric labels such as bipolar disorder, ADHD, ADD, Social Anxiety Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder are not diseases discovered in labs, they are invented in committee by a show of hands of the American Psychiatric Association. And it is these labels, this practice of pathologizing behaviors into “diseases” that are literally voted into existence by the American Psychiatric Association, that fuel the $80 billion dollar psychiatric drug industry that puts profit over patient’s lives.

Here’s the full video (14 min), for those want to to watch more.

Yes, it’s an $80 Billion Dollar Industry. That’s how lucrative the Psychiatric Drug Industry is. Many Americans are “diagnosed” for mental disorder, without going through clinical tests, and are prescribed drugs that they don’t need in the first place.

Please note that I am NOT saying that every prescription given to every patient is unnecessary. Some of these prescription are needed to alleviate the patients’ problems. However, what we should be against is the OVER-prescription of the drugs.

Some views given by CCHR (Citizens Commission on Human Rights) here.
Quick Facts about Psychiatry

Psychiatric Disorders Voted Into Existence

Psychiatry’s diagnostic criteria are literally voted into existence and inserted into the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM). What is voted in is a system of classification of symptoms that is drastically different from, and foreign to, anything in medicine. None of the diagnoses are supported by objective evidence of physical disease, illness, or science.

Since when do doctors vote a disease into existence? Do you see a group oncologists gathering to vote lung cancer to be considered a disease?

Please also note that voting to classify or declassify a sickness into existence, or expunge it from the list of sickness, is not new to psychiatry. In 1973, The American Psychiatric Association (APA) voted to declassify homosexuality as a mental illness.

Ha ha. Again, since when do doctors vote to declassify diseases? Do you see a group of cardiologists vote to declassify a certain coronary disease as a non-disease?

Aren’t these psychiatrists complicit in the scamming of billions of dollars from the American people, to feed the hungry wolves in the Drug Industry?

Far Reaching Impact for our Very Young Singaporeans -

I would have just shook my head and walked off, if this madness psychiatrists dish out to their patients is only limited to the US. Very, very unfortunately, we are seeing this practice being done in Singapore – not least of all, to our very young – ie schoolchildren.

Don’t believe me? There’s evidence that our (school going) children are being subjected to this farce, propagated by the greedy Billion Dollar American Drug Industry. Now I am not going to give you direct links. If I did that, the companies may claim that I have libeled them. So what I am going to do is to give you some keywords and you do the search yourself.

Keyword list here: “treatment adhd children singapore”

Oooh, no shortage of clinics for such treatment, no? That goes to show that there is high number of children who have been diagnosed for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

ADHD is basically a behaviour identified by psychiatrists as hyper activeness that is higher than the average kid. In the good old days, teachers and discipline masters called that kind of behaviour “disruptive”. Today, it is a menatal disorder and that child needs to be treated – with drugs.

Again, I am not saying that these drugs don’t work. Neither am I saying that all ADHD diagonsed patients don’t need drugs. I am against the over-subscription of these drugs, as well as the lax control.

So far in Singapore, we have not reached the level as in the US, where a high number of school children are being prescribed with drugs they don’t need. But at the look of things, we may be heading that way.

Here is an article from the Dept of Paediatrics, NUS.
ADHD – in search of the ‘real’ deal

In Singapore ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a diagnostic label which has made it into the mainstream with often dire consequences. Every child who is that little bit fidgety, or has touched something they should not, or is full of energy may be labelled as ‘ADHD’ by their parents, teachers or even well meaning strangers. Parents may also seek a diagnosis of ‘ADHD’ as they learn that their child may benefit from special consideration and exemptions during the examination setting. It is therefore important as professionals that a diagnosis of ADHD is an appropriate one.

This is alarming. Far too often, a child in Singapore is given the “ADHD” tag. This not only affects the mental mindset and self-esteem of the child himself, but opens the opportunity for society to accept that should he be prescribed medication for that “illness”, it is good for him – even when he doesn’t need such medication in the first place!

Read the rest of the article and see for yourself the kind of “tests” that is conducted to decipher if the child has ADHD. Yep, they’re not clinical tests. They’re just assessment type tests which is highly subjective.

You dare put your child on medication just because some “experts” feel he needs to be on medication/treatment? Shouldn’t a disease be diagnosed by clinically proven methods, rather than observed behaviour?

Here is a list of side effects of the drugs given to patients.
Psychiatric Drugs: Types, Side-Effects, Dangers and Permanent Damage

My Conclusion -

Our schoolchildren have been subjected to all kinds of behavioural tags in schools. The most common is ADHD. While in the old days this would have been seen as “disruptive” or “indiscipline”, which the rotan or detention class would have corrected the behaviour, today it is all about psychiatry and counselling. Sometimes these include drug therapy which the child does not need in the first place, endangering his physical and mental health.

I am not saying that all cases diagnosed are wrong. There are some children who do have such problems and drugs are needed to alleviate their symptoms. However, in view of the billion dollar drug industry that has been pushing kids to have medication in America, and Singapore’s lapdog and copycat approach to mimic America, I fear the day where every other child in Singapore is drugged into madness – the very sickness they do not have in the first place.

>Some psychiatrists are madder than patients they treat

Posted by Barrie on March 5, 2010

>First the psychos, I mean psychiatrists from the American Psychiatric Association VOTED to remove homosexuality as a disorder. Next, these same pyschos want to classify everyday behaviour and emotions as disorder.

Now just before you think these psychos can’t get any more psychotic, they now tell you that more and more people are diagnosing themselves (note the implicit approval from these psychiatrists to allow self-diagnosis!) as sufferers of bipolar behaviour.

Now since when do doctors allow patients to diagnose themselves? Note that this is more like an advertisement by the Psychiatric Practitioners for you to be cool to be bipolar, so that they can make more money out of you.

The name of the game is that YOU decide that YOU are sick, so that THEY can make money.

But the biggest hypocrisy of it all is the implicit message is that it is cool, fashionable and acceptable to be mentally sick (like the celebrities), so come on, be sick, come to me for treatment and you will be fine.

Self-diagnosis of bipolar up

LONDON – PSYCHIATRISTS in Britain claim to have discovered a new phenomenon – people diagnosing themselves with bipolar disorder, according to research published on Monday.

Celebrities talking publicly about suffering from the illness are linked to the rise in self-diagnosis, London-based psychiatrists Dr Diana Chan and Dr Lester Sireling said.

Bipolar disorder, which was previously known as manic depression, is a condition affecting an individual’s mood where manic or depressive episodes can fluctuate between ‘normal’ periods. Writing in the March issue of The Psychiatrist, Dr Chan and Dr Sireling claim celebrities talking openly about their personal experiences of bipolar disorder has led to increased awareness of the illness.

The psychiatrists wrote: ‘The increasing popularity of bipolar disorder may be attributed to increased media coverage, coupled with the high social status associated with celebrities such as (British TV personality) Stephen Fry talking about their own personal experiences of mental illness.’ Other high-profile celebrities such as actor Mel Gibson and rock star Axl Rose have also spoken publicly about bipolar disorder. Gibson said in a documentary in 2002 that his childhood alcohol abuse led to high and lows which resulted in him being diagnosed with the disorder.

Around one in every 100 adults is said to suffer from bipolar disorder at some point in their lives although recent studies shows that figure could be as high as 11 in every 100. Dr Chan and Dr Lester added: ‘Public awareness of bipolar disorder has spread through the internet, radio and television shows such as MTV’s ‘True Life: I’m Bipolar’ and BBC’s ‘The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive’.

However, Dr Chan and Dr Sireling say patients who ‘want to be bipolar’ may not always comprehend the consequences of being diagnosed with the disorder. ‘Current evidence suggests that bipolar disorder may be underdiagnosed in the community, with a significant delay to diagnosis. The challenge for the primary care psychiatrist is in either making or excluding the diagnosis of bipolar disorder and then sensitively dealing with the patient who wants to be bipolar.’ — AFP

Oh, ho, ho…..”increasing popularity of bipolar disorder”? What’s with that? You mean it’s cool to be sick (in the head)? And what is this stuff about patients who “want to be bipolar”? These psychiatrists talk as if sickness is something patients like to have. Imagine a group of cardiologists telling you that there are patients who want to have coronary diseases!

I am highly skeptical about this self-diagnosis stuff. Come on. Everyone has mood swings. From the kid who lost his marbles (literally) and starts blaming his classmate for it, to the nagging mom who is stressed that junior just dirtied the floor right after mom had just mopped that floor. Or the boss who ticks off his subordinate because his boss just ticked him off.

This is the scary part. It appears that some psychiatrists are feeding on people’s need to be sick. This is further amplified by the glorification of that sickness, highlighting that some celebrities suffer those sicknesses too. So to be cool, you have to be sick like those celebrities.

The coolest part for these psychiatrists is that they make tons of money when you believe you are sick. Whether you truly are sick or not, does not matter.

As the old saying goes, mental sickness is (literally) all up in the mind.

>After declassifying homo as disorder, mad psychos now seek to classify everyday emotions as disorder

Posted by Barrie on February 22, 2010

>For those who do not know how homosexuality came to be accepted as “normal”, you may wish to know that in 1973, a group of psychiatrists voted, yes that’s right VOTED the then disease out. Yeah, imagine a group of oncologists voting a type of cancer as “non-disease”! Would you trust your doctor to treat you?

More of that later. Now let’s look at these mad psychiatrists trying to classify everyday habits and emotions as some sort of mental illness that needs to be treated.

Psychiatrists want to call being angry a mental illness. How utterly mad!
Excerpts:

If you find it hard to throw out things of limited or no value, you could be suffering from hoarding disorder.

‘Hoarding’ is just one of the new mental conditions being added to the psychiatrists’ bible, or the Diagnostic And Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders (DSM), to give it its proper name.

Other new conditions identified as possibly needing professional help include binge eating – which is said to affect many people who are seriously obese – and ‘cognitive tempo disorder’, which seems very like laziness (symptoms include dreaminess and sluggishness).

There’s also ‘intermittent explosive disorder’, which involves occasionally becoming very angry suddenly.

Most bizarre of the proposed additions is one defined as ‘getting a thrill at being outraged by pornography’.

It was also described as Whitehouse syndrome after the campaigner Mary Whitehouse, who objected to sexual content on TV.

The DSM is a large book that lists all psychiatric disorders and describes their symptoms. If a condition is in there, it means it’s considered a mental illness.

But some of the new entries are controversial, not least because of fears they will result in many more people being put on drugs that could be ineffective or dangerous.

The DSM is produced by the American Psychiatric Association and is hugely influential worldwide.

‘Once a condition has got a label you’ve got a better chance of being treated and researchers are more likely to investigate it,’ explains Professor David Cottrell, professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Leeds.

Ah, American Psychiatric Association, the association that VOTED homosexuality to be declassified as a disease. Hahaha, since when do doctors vote to classify or declassify something a disease?

So now APA (hey, notice that its acronym has an uncanny reverse letter ordering of PAP?) wants to classify everyday emotions as diseases. For those who still think what’s the big deal, the answer is that it is a big deal. Big bucks, that is. $$$$$

You see, for every emotion that is considered a disease, there is a chance for the these psychos who tell you that you are psychotic, to treat you. It also means that the pharmaceutical companies have big chance to siphon your money, expecting you to consume drugs that you don’t need in the first place.

Psychoism, er I mean psychiatry is not a hard science like say oncology, neurology or other fields of medicine. While diseases like cancer, diabetes, hypertension can be identified and treated, there really is no way for a psychiatrist to have an objective test to diagnose that you have a certain kind of disease. You just have to take his word for it.

APA, is an influential association, made up of a group of psychiatrists in US. It is supposedly set up to seek for the betterment of mental health of mental patients. Somehow, politics and greed have infiltrated them and now they tell you that you need to be treated for about anything at all. So the more diseases you have, the more money $$$$ they get! In other words, they want you to get yourself treated, even if you know you are not sick.

APA has also played to the gay gallery. In 1973, they voted to have homosexuality declassified as a disease.

The APA decision December 1973: declassification of homosexuality as an illness, Charles Kaiser argues, was the gay movement’s most revolutionary moment. (Bold beginnings).

Exposed: The Myth That Psychiatry Has Proven That Homosexual Behavior Is Normal

But wait, who are these psychiatrists who campaigned to have homo voted to be declassified as disease in 1973? Take a look here.

Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists (AGLP)

AGLP Traces its roots to the late 1960s when gay and lesbian members of the American Psychiatric Association met informally at the annual meetings. In 1973 the APA removed homosexuality per se as a mental disorder from the new diagnostic manual (DSM-III) facilitating a more open association of lesbian and gay psychiatrists.

So please note that APA, the very influential association of psychiatrists in America, is being controlled by gays and lesbian psychiatrists. These gays and lesbians, who have strong influence over APA, are now telling the world how you should view homosexuality.

Note that the advice given by APA, is based on the influence of gays and lesbians and bears NO SEMBLANCE of any medical research, but simply BY VOTES.

APA Officially Rejects Reorientation Treatment for Homosexuals

The American Psychological Association (APA) adopted a resolution Wednesday urging mental health professionals to avoid telling clients that they can change their sexual orientation through therapy or other treatments. The decision rejects the hundred years’ worth of research indicating the effectiveness and benefits of sexual reorientation therapy due to “serious design flaws.”

The resolution also advises that parents, guardians, young people and their families avoid sexual orientation treatments that portray homosexuality as a mental illness and rather seek treatments “that provide accurate information on sexual orientation and sexuality, increase family and school support and reduce rejection of sexual minority youth.”

The approval was made at the APA’s annual convention with a 125-4 vote. At the convention, a task force presented a report that in part examined the efficacy of ‘reparative therapy,’ or sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE).

However, not all psychiatrists agree.

Mega Analysis of Over 100 Years of Research Shows Treatment for Unwanted Homosexuality Beneficial

The study, What Research Shows: NARTH’s Response to the American Psychological Associations Claims on Homosexuality, examines over 100 years of professional and scientific literature as well as over 600 reports from clinicians, researchers, and former clients principally published in professional and peer-reviewed journals.

This research, assembled over a period of eighteen months by three of the leading academics and therapists in the field and under the direction of the NARTH Scientific Advisory Committee, refutes claims made by some factions of the American Psychological Association and several other professional mental health organizations.

Radical elements in the American Psychological Association have posited that: (1) Homosexuality is fixed and unchangeable (2) Attempts to therapeutically assist those with unwanted homosexuality are harmful (3) There are no quality of life differences in those who engage in homosexual and heterosexual behaviors.

The study, conducted by the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, found that a change in sexual orientation is possible for some individuals and does not cause psychological harm on average.

“This research is a significant milestone when it comes to the scientific debate over the issue of homosexuality,” said NARTH president Dr. Julie Hamilton. “It also confirms what we have seen evidenced in hundreds of individuals who have benefited from the help of NARTH therapists.

“We believe that every person should have the right to independently determine their own course in life and for many that involves seeking counseling options that affirm their personal beliefs.”

Recap and Summary

APA, the most influential psychotic, I mean psychiatric association in America declassified homo as disease, and now wants to include everyday emotions as diseases.

APA has been infiltrated by gay and lesbian psychiatrists, who now have a strong influence over what APA tells you to believe and do – including getting you treated for everyday emotions on top of telling you not to seek treatment for homosexuality.

Please remember that all these recommendations given by APA are nothing more than decisions made BY VOTES which can be lobbied, influenced or even bought.

So it is not an over-statement that the gays and lesbians have infiltrated institutions to spread their ideals to the world.
